The short version: this website sets no cookies and uses no trackers. It uses a cookie-free, aggregate visit counter (section 3) that cannot identify you individually. The Kata Shell app contains no analytics or telemetry at all. The little data processing that does happen is described below.
1. Controller
Stanislav Kiselevskii

2. Hosting (server log files)
This website is served by Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the site, Cloudflare technically necessarily processes your IP address and standard connection data (requested URL, date and time, browser type) to deliver the pages and to protect the service against attacks. I do not merge this data with other sources or use it to identify visitors.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in providing and securing the website. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place as part of Cloudflare's terms of service. Details: Cloudflare privacy policy.
3. Website analytics
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and page views. It works without cookies or any other client-side storage, and Cloudflare states it does not fingerprint visitors via IP address, User-Agent string, or any other signal for this purpose — so no individual visitor is identified, and there is no cross-site tracking. I only see aggregate counts (visits, page views, referrers, approximate location derived from IP, page-load performance); query strings are not logged. Cloudflare retains unsampled beacon data for 7 days, after which it is reduced to a roughly 10% sample for longer-term trend reporting.
Cloudflare acts as processor for this data under the same terms referenced in section 2. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate and anonymous form, how the site is used. Details: Cloudflare Web Analytics.
4. Contact by e-mail
If you write to me, I process your e-mail address and the content of your message in order to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to the product or a (pre-)contractual matter, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Messages are kept as long as needed to handle the conversation and any statutory retention duties.
5. Downloads
The application download is delivered via GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you download, GitHub processes your IP address and connection data under its own responsibility. Details: GitHub privacy statement.
6. The Kata Shell app
Kata Shell contains no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising identifiers. The only network request the app makes is an optional check for software updates against this domain, which technically transmits your IP address and the installed version number; nothing is logged beyond standard server access logs (section 2). You can disable the update check in the app's settings.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the authority responsible for me is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz.
8. Early-access license keys
Early access is currently free. If you ask me for an early-access license key, we process your e-mail address and, where you provide one, your name, in order to issue the key and to be able to confirm it or send it again to its owner on request. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — providing a license at your own request; this is a (pre-)contractual relationship initiated by you even though no payment is involved.
This data is stored locally on a developer facility on an encrypted disk. It is not stored in the cloud and is not shared with any third party. We keep it for as long as the license is valid, plus a reasonable period afterwards to handle support requests. Your rights regarding this data are described in section 7.
